Fran Trento, Frame Finland, November 2023
Frame organised the Fall gathering for the Islands of Kinship network in Helsinki. We received members from the six organisations that are active participants in this project, and had workshops connected to topics like disability, social sustainability, eco-cripness and transformative justice.
A public event with the participation of the facilitators from the above-mentioned workshops was also organised in collaboration with IHME, an organisation that focuses on developing programme for performing arts taking into account sustainable practices.
The event also had the participation of the WAUHAUS collective, an arts-based collective that focused on the question of the distribution of care in the Finnish society. They are involved in the project “Spheres of Care”.
According to their website – https://www.wauhaus.fi/spheres-of-care – the project involves “a series of performative events, a nurturing oasis’ and reservoir of rests, where we focus on care amidst emotional, social, and ecological crises. The events gather together researchers, artists, activists, and other interested parties. The events offer a multitude of perspectives on care and nurture; we look at care about self, society, and soil. We gather around a wide range of information through lectures, practices, and performances.”
