The project Islands of Kinship interconnects and transforms the practical functioning of six mid-scale visual art institutions across diverse regions in Europe. (Prague, Bratislava, Bitola/Skopje, Cologne, Helsinki, Riga) in an innovative collaboration model addressing issues of inclusion, kinship and togetherness, democratic exchange and the ethics, emotions and practical solutions for environment-friendly institutional operation. Partners

Jindřich Chalupecký Society

(Prague) a non-profit platform for Czech post-revolutionary and contemporary art in international context. In collaboration with a number of partner institutions throughout the Czech Republic and internationally, JCHS organizes exhibitions, public programmes, residencies for artists and curators, educational and publication projects.

Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art

LCCA (Riga) organises exhibitions, runs research and educational projects, as well as issues publications in contemporary art and recent art history. Its chief area of focus lies in the contexts of Latvia, the Baltics and the broader postsocialist region, with matters concerning gender and minorities, the layers of individual and cultural memory, as well as environmental and ecological perspectives.

Frame Contemporary Art Finland

(Helsinki) is an advocate for Finnish contemporary art. Frame supports international initiatives, facilitates professional partnerships, and encourages critical development of the contemporary art field. Commissioning and producing the exhibition for the Alvar Aalto Pavilion of Finland in the Venice Biennale is Frame’s most extensive international project.

Július Koller Society

(Bratislava) organizes domestic and international projects and activities in the areas of contemporary art, art history, visual studies and cultural theory. The expertise of the JKS lies in encouraging the exchange of ideas and information in these fields, challenging the canons, geographies and master narratives of established art histories.

CCA Temporary Gallery

(Cologne) is a non-profit centre for contemporary art. The program should not only be artistically convincing, but also socially relevant. The Temporary Gallery works actively against exclusion and discrimination. Program of the institution includes topics such as ecology, sustainability, community and inclusion.

Faculty of things that can't be learned

(Bitola/Skopje) is an organisation of cultural workers operating in the fields of education and production of contemporary visual arts and culture, with a distinct focus on methodology of research, engagement and collective action in different socio-political and cultural contexts.
